Dublin Volunteer Centres: Volunteering Development Officer
DUBLIN VOLUNTEER CENTRES SEEK A VOLUNTEERING DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

The Volunteering Development Officer will be responsible for
supporting and developing volunteer-involving organisations across
Dublin in order that those organisations may be better able to involve
displaced people as volunteers.

TASKS WILL INCLUDE:

* Working with local volunteer-involving organisations to explain the
particular needs of displaced people in volunteering
* Supporting local organisations to create or adapt volunteer roles
to be suitable for displaced persons
* Working with the staff of the four Dublin Volunteer Centres to
arrange placements for displaced people in suitable volunteer roles

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL NEED TO DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

* A minimum of 2 years? experience in information brokerage,
project management, community development or related area
* Excellent people skills, you are able to build and sustain
relationships, manage issues with diplomacy and work with a wide range
of people.
* Knowledge of and passion for volunteering
* Excellent ability to communicate with a wide audience, and on a
one-to-one basis, in writing or verbally
* Ability to assess organisational needs and support organisations
to achieve their goal
* Strong project management skills
* Strong organisational, administrative and IT skills
* The ability to persuade and encourage others to take action
* The ability to cooperate well with team members and partner
organisations
* Ability to multitask, commitment and work at own initiative
* Flexibility and willingness to work weekends and occasional
evenings, a time in lieu system will operate
* Familiarity with the issues relating to volunteering and an
understanding of the barriers to participation in volunteering in
Ireland

THE FOLLOWING ARE DESIRABLE AND WOULD ENHANCE THE ABILITY OF
CANDIDATES TO CARRY OUT THE ROLE TO A HIGH STANDARD:

* Excellent standard of written English
* A history of undertaking voluntary work
* Experience of creating and delivering training sessions/courses
* Experience in using CRM software (e.g. Salesforce)
* Familiarity with the challenges of beginning life in a new country
