BUILDING RECOGNITION AND SUPPORT FOR THE COMMUNITY WORK PROFESSION

BACKGROUND

The All-Ireland Endorsement body for Community Work Education and
Training (AIEB) was established in **Apply on the website** as an
all-Ireland framework for ensuring quality and standards in community
work practice through:

* development and maintenance of standards relevant for
practitioners, and for programmes and policymakers when considering
community work dimensions
* development and delivery of endorsement frameworks, procedures and
processes for
* practice at all levels
* development of standards and support for education and training at
all levels
* development and maintenance of appropriate links and exchanges
with national and international quality assurance and educational
bodies.

AIEB membership includes practitioners, educators, funders/policy
makers, employers and students. All serve in a voluntary capacity.
Reflecting the mobility of workers and the aspiration of partnership
and co-operation, AIEB is an all island North /South body which
presents many opportunities bringing together educators and
practitioners from a variety of contexts with a broad range of diverse
experience and expertise.

AIEB is supported by Community Work Ireland, the national membership
organisation that supports and promotes community work to address
poverty, social exclusion and inequality, and is currently funded by
the Department of Rural and Community Development.

TENDER

AIEB is seeking a suitably qualified consultant(s) to develop a
strategy for the promotion of the community work discipline across the
island of Ireland, carry out a needs assessment in Northern Ireland
and undertake specific tasks that will contribute to the development
of a workforce development strategy.

CONSULTANT(S) SPECIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have:

* A third level professional qualification in community development.
* Proven evidence of experience as a community work practitioner,
educator and researcher.
* Familiarity with?North of Ireland and the structures and issues
relevant for community work practice in NI.
* Knowledge and experience of the third level, community based and
further education sectors on the island of Ireland and in particular
with regard to community development/community work education and
training.
* Knowledge of relevant accreditation and endorsement mechanisms and
associated bodies and processes at all levels.
* Knowledge of Continuous Professional Development/Continuous
Practice Development best practice and professional education and
training.
* Capacity to develop resources for website and social media.
* Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills.

TIMEFRAME

Commencing in June **Apply on the website** with final outputs
delivered by April **Apply on the website**, interim targets to be
agreed with AIEB.
