RELIEF CHILDREN’S SERVICE SUPPORT WORKER

DOMESTIC ABUSE SERVICE?

COPE Galway Domestic Abuse Service provides support to around **Apply
on the website** women and their children each year. Those who use our
service are women either at risk from an abusive partner or who have
suffered abuse at the hands of a partner in the past. Our role is to
provide a safe space for each woman and her children and then to
assist her in exploring options and making decisions which will lead
to a better life.

Modh Eile House is COPE Galway’s home for Galway’s Domestic Abuse
Service. This purpose-built premises provides refuge space for nine
women and their children, in addition to an innovative and responsive
Children’s Service and an expansive Outreach Service, stretching out
throughout the county of Galway. Modh Eile provides temporary, safe
accommodation for women and their children experiencing domestic
abuse, with the Service supporting women from Galway city & county who
both live in and who do not. Open **Apply on the website** hours a
day, 7 days a week, Modh Eile operates a panel of relief staff,
through which the continuity of care and support to our clients is
assured; the objective of this post is to add to that panel. Shift
work as a member of the Relief Panel may include short shifts (as
little as two hours), short-notice shifts, evening and weekend work.

We are looking for RELIEF CHILDREN’S SUPPORT WORKERS AT SOLAS ÓG-
someone who will ensure that our service is welcoming, supportive and
a safe place for children who visit us and who stay in our refuge.

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT SOMEONE WHO HAS:

* A demonstrable commitment to women and children and a proven
interest and experience in the area of Domestic Violence and Abuse.
* Qualification in Early years or Childcare (Minimum FETAC Level 5)
* Has worked with disadvantaged children and children experiencing
problems within their families.
* Experience in supporting mothers who need guidance in relation to
how best to support their children developmentally and emotionally
* An ability to manage oneself in a stressful environment and to
work effectively in crisis situations
* Full knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations which
inform work with children
