Sisters of St Louis: Mission Development Coordinator
MISSION DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR (MDC)

The Sisters of St Louis are an international congregation based in 7
countries. Their mission includes Community Development, Education,
Health Care and Pastoral Care.

This new MDC role will involve the setting up of the St Louis
Development Desk. It is a creative developmental role which will
include managing and coordinating fundraising, missionary support and
volunteer development in respect of the missionary work of the
Institute of the Sisters of St Louis (SSL), and developing a strategic
plan for the work of the Development Desk.

THE POSITION WILL INVOLVE THE FOLLOWING:

Strategic Tasks

* Taking responsibility for setting up and the overall management of
the St. Louis Development Desk
* Identifying and targeting appropriate persons / agencies as
sources of funding
* Project proposal writing and fundraising for the Sisters of St.
Louis mission; ministries and training of personnel
* Empowering Sisters on mission to write appropriate proposals and
projects and submit follow-up reports, e.g. to Misean Cara and other
funding agencies
* Strengthening the St. Louis membership in developing an integrated
approach to mission based on adequate strategic planning
* Working with the Sisters in identifying needs and priorities for
funding
* Coordinate other Institute Mission initiatives as requested by the
Central Leadership Team (CLT)

Operational Tasks

* Compiling and maintaining a database of funding sources
* Ensuring that all donations are acknowledged to the donors and
that the information is passed on to the relevant sisters
* Liaising with the Sisters on mission who already receive monies
from agencies and other donors to ensure no duplication of requests
* Maintaining up to date records of all funds raised and make sure
they have been used according to the wishes of the funder/donors
* Honouring the wishes of the funders/donors and keeping them
informed regarding new developments in the work of the missions
* Working with the communications manager to produce publicity
materials e.g. brochures etc.
* Communicating with Area Leadership Teams as appropriate especially
the project coordinators
* Strengthening the capacity of the Sisters and their local and
national partners in various development skills and knowledge

DESIRABLE QUALITIES AND SKILLS

* Understanding of, and affinity with, the mission, ethos, values and
strategic objectives of the Sisters of St Louis
* Good knowledge and experience of the development sector. Overseas
experience desirable
* Strong management skills including the ability to compile,
implement, monitor and evaluate projects
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability
to work on one?s own initiative as well as being a member of a team
* Good verbal, written and computer skills
* Ability to train others in project management skills and in
strategic planning
