Our client began manufacturing 20 years ago and is an award winning leader in low vision digital video magnifiers products. To maintain their market leading position and to meet with current growth, they are seeking an experience Electronic Design Engineer to join the team.



Job Description

Our client currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electronic Design Engineer to join the Engineering Design team based in the Kildare Office.

The successful candidate will be working on the innovation, design and development of these cutting edge devices. The principle areas of responsibility are as follows:

Embedded code design in C for ARM7 and Microchip?s microcontroller family

Development of video processing blocks in VHDL based on Lattice/Xilinx FPGA devices

Hardware schematic design of digital video processing circuits to implement the required designs

Hardware design of power control circuitry including Lithium Ion and Lithium polymer battery charging and DC-DC voltage regulation circuitry

PCB layout and prototype board building, testing and verification

Documentation generation such Hardware/Software design specification, BOM, ECO etc.

Production engineering tasks required to bring designs into production

Oversee CE compliance testing to relevant standards



Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

Minimum 3+ years proven experience in the electronics design industry

Honours degree in Electronic Engineering

Expected to display a high degree of initiative and to work to very tight and demanding deadlines.

Required to communicate effectively and clearly and to take significant responsibility within the company.

Good written and oral communications skills are essential.

Experience with the following is essential:

Microcontroller embedded C code design and development

VHDL code design, simulation and synthesis

Digital and Analogue circuit design using microcontrollers and FPGA/CPLD devices

DC ? DC circuit design for portable battery operated devices

PCB layout for multilayer PCB?s

Prototype PCB building and testing

Hardware and Code design for CE approval

Experience with the following would be an advantage

Code design and development for Microchip and ARM based microcontrollers

VHDL code design and synthesis for Lattice and Xilinx FPGA/CPLD devices using Diamond IDE or ISE design suite

PCB design and layout using Easy PC

Experience with memory devices such as Serial EEPROM, FLASH, SRAM, DDR, FIFOs.

Detailed knowledge of digital video sensors, including CMOS sensors and block cameras CCTV (PAL/NTSC, 720p, 1080p).

C/C++ coding experience with Microsoft Visual Studio

Experience in developing FPGA blocks to perform digital video processing in VHDL

Knowledge of USB2, USB3.0, USB3 Vision, DVI/HDMI and SD card standards

Knowledge of communication standards such as I2C, SPI, UART

Knowledge of digital video standards



Package

Salary ?45-55k dependent on prior relevant experience

This is a permanent full time role based in Kildare
