JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE POST OF

FAMILY SUPPORT / COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To work in response to identified community needs with individuals,
families and groups through the development and implementation of both
family support and community development programmes and activities.
Liaise and network with relevant agencies and service providers within
the community and engage in interagency projects.

KEY AREAS OF WORK:

FAMILY SUPPORT

* To provide support, information and advocacy to families attending
Newbridge Family Resource Centre
* To work with other staff to develop and deliver appropriate Family
Support Programmes
* To participate in evidence based programmes such as _Strengthening
families _or _Parents Plus_
* Engage in Meitheal process.
* Provide specific one to one support to families
* To liaise with other agencies and serviced providers around the
provision of Family Support

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

* To outreach the services of Newbridge Family Resource Centre to the
community.
* To assess the changing needs of the community.
* Organise and Facilitate Training and development for community
groups.
* Support local community groups and network with other agencies in
order to enhance the services of Newbridge Family Resource Centre.
* Apply for funding through various grant applications from
government and community funders.
* Support and work with volunteers engaged in groups in the Centre.

TEAMWORK , PLANNING AND INFORMATION SHARING

* To work as part of a team
* Prepare written reports for the Manager and Voluntary Board of
Management
* Work with existing staff in order to develop relevant programmes
within the Centre.
* Liaise with the Childcare manager and other workers in order to
identify children and their families who are vulnerable or within the
povertycircle.
* Make funding applications where necessary
* Engage in supervision with the Centre?s Manager on a regular
basis.
* Maintain confidentiality in relation to the FRC and the work
carried out
* Be willing to participate in appropriate Training and Development
as identified.

OTHER WORK

To undertake any other work that the Manager or Voluntary Board of
Management deem necessary to the successful implementation of future
work plans or national directives.
