OFFALY TRAVELLER MOVEMENT

POSITION: COORDINATOR OF THE PRIMARY HEALTH CARE PROGRAMME

Offaly Traveller Movement (OTM) is a Traveller-led community
development organisation, working to address issues facing Travellers
in the region including, health, accommodation, youth, education,
cultural and ethnic identity and human rights. OTM is delighted to be
seeking a dynamic person for the post of Primary Health Care
Coordinator. The Coordinator will work to support the Community Health
Workers and Community Development Workers (Health Team) to deliver
health education, health promotion, advice and support to Travellers
in Offaly. The is a senior management post within the organisation and
funded by the HSE Traveller Health Unit.

THE PURPOSE OF THE POST WILL BE TO:

* Jointly co-ordinate the OTM Primary Health Care Programme;
* Line manage and support the Primary Health Care Team i.e.,
Community Health Workers and Community Development Workers;
* Work towards reducing health inequalities among Travellers and
* Represent the issue of Traveller health on a range of forums as
relevant.

This post will be part-time, **Apply on the website** hours per week.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE:

* A qualification in Community Development, Social Care, Family
Support or equivalent
* Three years? experience of project co-ordination or equivalent;
* Experience of team management, support and direction
* A thorough understanding of Traveller issues, particularly in
relation to Traveller health.
* A deep understanding of Traveller culture and disadvantage and of
community development approaches to work
* Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated capacity to work on your own initiative and as part
of a team
* Experience of report writing; funding proposals, applications,
evaluation reports etc.
* Excellent administration and IT skills
* High level of motivation, proactivity and flexibility
* Flexible, enthusiastic and reliable
* Full drivers? licence and access to own transport
