Westmeath Support Service against Domestic Abuse: Qualified Therapists


Qualified Therapists required for sessional work with Westmeath
Support Service against Domestic Abuse (WSSADA) as part of our
Therapeutic Support Service for women who have experienced violence
and abuse from an intimate partner.

WHO WE ARE

WSSADA supports women and their families to overcome violence and
abuse committed by an intimate partner and to lead lives of their own
choosing. Our support services include, practical support, listening
and advocacy, signposting legal, housing and welfare services,
community education and awareness raising.

The foundation of this work is our strong belief that equality and
freedom from abuse, oppression and discrimination is a human right of
all members of the community. To this end we are committed to
providing opportunities for women to develop their own solutions and
plans, to live lives of their own choosing and participate in
decisions making and policy developments that affect them; to support
their self-determination, participation and leadership, both in their
own lives and the wider community.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Applicants must possess;

* A recognised Level 7 qualification (QQI) in a relevant human
science discipline or equivalent in a health and social care
profession.

* Plus either A and B OR C and D as follows:
A. ??? Hold a degree or post-graduate qualification in counselling,
or psychotherapy recognised by one of the following, as appropriate:
Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), a relevant
body within the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) or the Irish
Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (IABCP).
B. ??? have full accredited membership with one of the following:
IACP, IABCP or a relevant body within ICP
OR
C. ??? Hold a post-graduate qualification in counselling psychology
or clinical psychology recognised by the Psychological Society of
Ireland (PSI),
D. ??? Have commenced the registration process with the PSI or be
or fully registered with the clinical or counselling psychology
division of PSI.
?
* Have a minimum of four years? relevant post qualification
experience (This requirement may not apply in respect of some
full-time post-graduate qualifications)
* Be prepared to undertake specialised training in understanding
Coercive Control and other relevant trainings
* Work within the procedures and policies and WSSADA
* Experience of working within the area of domestic abuse would be
considered as an advantage.
