Drogheda Homeless Aid: Support Worker


Drogheda Homeless Aid aims to restore dignity and hope by providing
care, support and shelter for homeless men, encouraging
self-development, independent living and resettlement. Drogheda
Homeless Aid, caters for **Apply on the website** residents?at any
one time who are staying in our dry hostel.

Drogheda Homeless Aid is also a housing association with 5 long term
houses and 4 transitional houses.

_SUPPORT WORKER POSITION:_

A key component of this role is to assist clients in their physical,
social, emotional and daily life skills development.

* Liaise with other members of the DHA team regarding the running of
the service
* Effective communication skills and quickly resolve problems
* Complete clear, concise records as required and participate in
handovers to core staff after each shift
* Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the service
both in general common areas
* Participate in routine maintenance, cleaning, and ensure laundry
systems are efficient in line with operational procedures and
standards
* Night duty staff must ensure the building is secure at night time
* Roster will include weekend cover
* To undertake any other such duties commensurate with the role that
may be assigned by the line manager.

_ADMINISTRATION_

* To maintain all recording systems as directed
* Knowledge of the MS Office **Apply on the website** (Word, Excel,
Mail)
* To adhere to all DHA policies and procedures relating to financial
control in the organisation
* To prepare reports as required.

_HEALTH AND SAFETY_

* Knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace
* Ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of clients is prioritised at
all times within the service
* Be vigilant in relation to health and safety and welfare risks in
the workplace and bring concerns to the attention of the manager or
health and safety representative
* To act as appointed First Aid person as required
* To ensure a safe, healthy and secure environment for all
employees, families and visitors within the service and ensure
designated fire procedures
* To carry out all duties with reasonable care
* To address actions arising from Health & Safety Inspections
* First Aid an advantage, however training will be provided by
organisation.

ESSENTIAL

* Experience working in a similar role within a social care setting
is essential.

_OTHER SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE_

* Experience of working with and supporting people who are homeless
or vulnerable in a residential setting
* Ability to manage challenging behaviour, set clear boundaries, and
remain calm under pressure
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Be self-motivated, able to motivate, inspire and empower others
* Understanding of the importance of confidentiality in relation to
work
* Share in and work to the values and ethos of Drogheda Homeless Aid
* Possessing a valid and full clean drivers licence would be an
advantage
* Ability to make efficient use of time and manage workload
* Works co-operatively and supportively with others
* Proven track record in meeting organisational needs / flexibility
in rostering
