_Roscommon LEADER Partnership (RLP) is recruiting for a_

RURAL RECREATION OFFICER

The person appointed will have relevant qualifications and work
experience to undertake to deliver a range of National Countryside
Recreation Services on behalf of the RLP in the geographic area of
County Roscommon and County Longford. The range of services will
include the implementation of the Walks Schemes in the geographic area
of County Roscommon and Longford and delivery of the following other
objectives of the National Countryside Recreational Strategy to
include the following:

* Promote and encourage the development and improvement of
recreational projects, infrastructure and activities including land,
water and air based activities,
* Develop, improve and promote other outdoor recreational activities
including mountain access,
* Develop and implement trail monitoring reporting and inspection
system for all the way marked ways in the County both current and
future schemes which are relevant to the walks scheme,
* Deliver on the objectives of the NCRS, in conjunction with State
Agencies, Local/Regional authorities and community groups,
* Co-operate with State Agencies, Local/Regional authorities and
community groups to deliver a range of outdoor recreational
activities,
* Develop or support any other recreational projects deemed suitable
from time to time by the Department of Rural and Community
Development, including the Outdoor Recreation Fund.
* Develop or support any other activities deemed suitable by the
Department of Rural and Community Development from time to time,
* Work extensively with the RLP LEADER team and Roscommon Tourism
Working group in the realisation of Roscommon Tourism Strategy which
is co-ordinated by Roscommon County Council?s Tourism Officer,
* Realise eligible Rural Development (LEADER) programme tourism
projects which will be eligible for funding under the National Rural

THE FOLLOWING ARE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS TO FULFILL THE ROLE OF RURAL
RECREATION OFFICER:

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

* A minimum of a nationally recognised THIRD LEVEL QUALIFICATION
(Level 8 or higher on the national framework of qualifications)
* Previous management/supervisory experience particularly in the
area of tourism development and walks development.
* Knowledge and experience and have a strong track record of success
in relation delivering on tourism development and marketing
initiatives and strategies.
* Flexibility in terms of working base within the geographic area.
* Strong track record in terms of rural tourism and outdoor
recreation development.
* Computer literacy to a high standard.
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
* Ability to relate to all stakeholders.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to work to deadlines and to multitask.
* Own car and full current driving licence.

This is a FULL-TIME POSITION; the salary will be commensurate with
experience within the context funding provision. Travel expenses will
be paid where appropriate at the rate of **Apply on the website** cent
a mile. The contract is fixed term and is subject to funding
provision.
