MAIN PURPOSE: The primary duty of the Outreach Assistant is to engage
in outreach activities with community organisations, facilitate
training and outside broadcasts and the promotion of Near media co-op
activities.

LINE MANAGER: Outreach Coordinator

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assist with the recruitment and retention of underrepresented
voices
* Assist with media training courses
* Liaise with community organisations
* Assist in production for radio and TV
* Organise events (outside broadcasts/training events/volunteer
events)
* Assist with promoting the station in the community and raising
visibility
* Engage Near Media Co-op activities on social media sites and other
channels
* Assist with various projects to ensure the Near Co-op operates
effectively

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should have a positive and enthusiastic
approach to the range of tasks associated with Near Media Co-op and
have the ability to interact constructively with staff and volunteers
of Near FM and Near TV in an enthusiastic and affable manner.

* Interest in broadcasting
* Sensitivity to cultural issues and experience of dealing with
marginalized people and communities
* An empathetic disposition and people-focused approach
* A degree of flexibility regarding work practices and working
arrangements
* Good interpersonal skills, experience of collaborating with others
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work effectively and constructively within a team
environment
* Some IT skills, including a degree of proficiency in Word,
PowerPoint as well as social media platforms

OTHER DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

* Full driving licence
* Experience in dealing with community and voluntary organisations
* Experience in training
* Ability to empathise with marginalised groups.
