Citizens Information Board: Request for Tender for the Development and Delivery of a Mentoring Training Course for Irish Sign Language Interpreters

Citizens Information Board working in collaboration with Sign Language
Interpreting Service (SLIS), the national Sign Language Interpreting
Service for Ireland, support and fund the Register of Irish Sign
Language Interpreters (RISLI), a voluntary national, professional
register, in line with the Irish Sign Language Act **Apply on the
website** and the National Disability Inclusion Strategy.

RISLI aims to

* protect users of interpreting services through a standards-based
registration system
* set and ensure adherence to standards for the provision of ISL by
public bodies
* support public bodies to facilitate the use of professional ISL
services so the Deaf community can exercise their rights and
entitlements
* support professional ISL interpreters to meet and maintain
standards
* promote social inclusion of ISL users including access to public
bodies

The purpose of this RFT is to seek tenders to provide an online
Mentoring Training Course to between **Apply on the website** and
**Apply on the website** experienced Irish Sign Language (ISL)
interpreters on behalf of the Register of Irish Sign Language
Interpreters (RISLI) Citizen Information Board (CIB). RISLI will
establish a Mentoring Programme as a key support to registered
professional ISL interpreters to meet and maintain standards. The
successful tenderer will develop and deliver an online Mentoring
Training course to train a group of between **Apply on the website**
and **Apply on the website** experienced Irish Sign Language (ISL)
interpreters to qualify as professional mentors, all participating
interpreters will be registered with RISLI. On successful completion
interpreters should have the skills, knowledge and techniques to
mentor, support and guide other registered ISL interpreters working
within the professional fields. Delivery of the training must be

participants to study at their own pace and time. The training course
should accommodate hearing and Deaf ISL users.
