CUMANN NA DAOINE ARE RECRUITING AN LGBT+ COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER
(P/T)

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL:

* Support delivery of CnD?s LGBT+ development plan across the
county within agreed timeframe
* Work with Cumann na Daoine staff and East Cork LGBT+ Network to
deliver planned objectives
* Work with partner organisations and liaise with agencies and
community organisations and support their role in enhancing LGBT+ work
in their organisations and areas
* Develop visibility and awareness-raising actions and supporting
their delivery
* Report to Cumann na Daoine?s Community Development Coordinator
and provide written evaluations
* Engage with hard-to-reach communities and develop strategies to
achieve that.
* Work with Youghal Pride by the Sea to deliver annual event.
* Promote LGBT+ awareness at all levels of work & ensure equity
between areas of skill & need
* Outreach work as required in other locations within the county,
e.g. facilitating drop-in sessions; presenting information, supporting
local groups.
* Assist in the development of the East Cork LGBT+ Network
* Participate in training as needed and required

Successful applicant will be required to undertake Garda Clearance

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Post is for 3 days per week, (**Apply on the website** hours excluding
lunch).

Worker will be based at Cumann na Daoine Teo, Catherine Street,
Youghal and other locations as required. (Work may commence online as
required under Covid**Apply on the website** restrictions).

ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES:

* Min. 3 years experience in Community Development settings
* Direct experience of working LGBT+ settings
* Understanding of marginalised development work
* Strong IT skills, including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and social
media platforms
* Experience in group facilitation
* Understanding of LGBT+ needs
* Good written and reporting skills including preparation of funding
applications
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
* Understanding of anti-homo/transphobic and anti-discriminatory
practice
* Adaptability to changing needs within the target group
* Excellent communication and engagement skills
* Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
* Use of own car and clean driving license
* Access to internet
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a sense of humour

DESIRABLE SKILLS

* Qualification in Community Development or related discipline
* Experience in event management
* Good understanding of intersectionality and its impact on
marginalised communities
* Previous involvement in LGBT+ community activities
