PART-TIME PSYCHOLOGIST

BACKGROUND

The Changing Lives Initiative (CLI) is a community-based model, which
creates a better understanding of ADHD and provides an intervention
programme for families with children (aged **Apply on the website**)
experiencing behaviours consistent with ADHD. We offer a tiered
intervention for families starting with Information and Awareness
sessions, through to a Screening Programme and finally an intensive
intervention in the form of an evidence-based ADHD focused Incredible
Years Parent Programme. The intervention is primarily delivered pre
diagnosis; with potential families being identified via a range of
agencies including schools, early years services, GPs and health
services. As well as working with families the project provides
specialist training to education, health and social care
professionals.

Following a highly successful 3.5 year EU funded project to deliver
and evaluate the CLI programme in Louth, Belfast and Western Scotland,
the programme will now be delivered in Counties Louth and Meath with
the support of funding from the Health Service Executive.

JOB PURPOSE

The main purpose of the Psychologist role is to administer the
screening process for the programme and deliver Information Sessions
to professionals. The Psychologist will also provide post screening
and post-programme feedback to parents where required. A key approach
for the Initiative and its staff is to maximise opportunities to build
effective links with schools, early years, community and statutory
services locally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Delivery of the project?s Information and Awareness session to
teachers, early years, health and social care practitioners
* Carrying out screening with families referred to the programme
* Where required, meeting with families to give them feedback on
their screening results
* Assessing the outcomes/effectiveness for individual families of
the ADHD focused IY Programme by comparing pre and post programme
measurements. Providing feedback to families on their outcomes and
identifying families who may need onward referral to other services.
* Providing guidance and support to the programme facilitators in
their delivery of the Information and Awareness sessions to parents
* Participation in meetings with key stakeholders such as HSE and
CAMHS where appropriate
* Keeping abreast of relevant developments in relation to ADHD
* Fully and accurately record all required information and data
relating to Initiative participants, including applying impact
measurement questionnaires with parents, and adhere fully to
confidentiality and data protection requirements at all times in
respect of this information.
* Engage in training as required with other Changing Lives
Initiative staff.

Flexible approach to work as evening and potentially weekend work may
be required

PERSON SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS

_ESSENTIAL:_

* Relevant third level qualification in the area of psychology

_DESIRED:_

* Post-graduate qualification in relevant area

EXPERIENCE

_ESSENTIAL:_

* Minimum two years proven experience in a psychology role working
with children, young people or families
* Experience of presenting to and/or facilitating group sessions
* Knowledge of evidence-based prevention and intervention approaches
for working with children and families

_DESIRED:_

* Knowledge of the Irish CAMHS system
* Experience of working within a community or with a group of high
social and economic disadvantage
* Working knowledge of local services and agencies that work with
children and families in Louth / Meath.

* Excellent organisational skills and proven ability to operate
successfully in a demanding and diverse workplace.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

LOCATION: The project will have a base in Dundalk, with the team
working across Counties Louth and Meath

public holidays
