FACILITATOR (5HRS PER WEEK)

The Committee are currently recruiting a 1 year fixed term position
for their Facilitator to work with and support the group. We invite
applications from suitable candidates through L?Arche Kilkenny.

This is a 5 hour a week position and dependent on the 1 year funding
from the HSE.

PURPOSE OF THE ID RIGHTS SOUTH EAST:

Intellectual Disability Rights South East is a rights-based
organisation. It was formed as a self-advocacy group for people with
mild intellectual disabilities and those working in supports for
people with intellectual disabilities in the Kilkenny and Carlow
region.

They aim to promote the rights of people with intellectual
disabilities in the community and advocate to service providers and
local authorities. To do this, the Committee will agree work plans and
target areas for focus.

The Committee is dedicated to taking a rights-based approach and will
advocate for their rights as laid out in the Convention of the Rights
of Persons with Disabilities and other UN treaties. Themes and topics
they wish to work on and how they will do this will be decided by the
Committee. Therefore, the Committee will be formed of people with
intellectual disabilities and supported by their support workers.

PURPOSE, NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

* To understand the goals of the Rights Group and ensuring decisions
are made democratically.
* The role exists to work with the Committee and support them in
Meeting organisation and Agendas, Minute taking, Communication support
through emails, phone calls, letters, ensuring accurate record keeping
on attendance and administration
* Supporting the development and delivery of the Committee to other
regional Disability Service Providers, HSE Disability representatives,
other Social Inclusion Groups, Professional Associations etc
* To promote the ID Rights Group social status within the South East
area and to all stakeholders.
* To encourage discussion within the Group but refrain from
"leading" the Rights Group.

RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO COMMITTEE MEMBERS:

* To keep the Committee members informed through suitable
communications, of upcoming meetings, Training sessions, Meeting
minutes and Easy read documents
* Maintain and support the goals of the ID Rights South East Group
* Observe empathy, respect, dignity, care and positive reinforcement
for the Committee Members.
* Maintain the Committee?s written records.
* To demonstrate flexibility to the requirements of the Committee as
it develops.
* To support and examine any Training opportunities which would
benefit the Committee members. E.g. Communications awareness,
Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists
