JOB TITLE: MENTAL HEALTH TENANCY SUSTAINMENT OFFICER

LOCATION: Cork City and County with a base in Cork City

ABOUT CORK MENTAL HEALTH HOUSING ASSOCIATION: Cork Mental Health
Housing Association has been established since **Apply on the

to live independently within their own homes throughout Cork City and
County.

REPORTING TO: C.E.O.

CONTRACT: I year fixed term contract

HOURS: **Apply on the website** hours per week

JOB PURPOSE

To provide support and be responsible for the settlement of, and
ongoing tenancy sustainment supports, for individuals for tenants with
mental health and other complex support needs.

To work in partnership with the HSE Mental Health teams and other
agencies who work in the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* To commit to the objectives and ethos of Cork Mental Health Housing
Association
* To ensure that new tenants are supported in settling into their
new homes and communities.
* To complete needs assessments and devise support plans using
appropriate assessment and planning tools, with the services user
taking a central role in the process.
* To work in partnership with the community mental health team, to
ensure that the service user can have the best possible outcomes
regarding their wellbeing.
* To support service users to meet responsibilities regarding the
payment of rent and other household bills.
* To support service users to maintain their home to a reasonable
standard and that repairs/faults are reported
* To support service users to fulfil their responsibilities as
detailed in their tenancy agreement, especially regarding being a good
neighbour, their responsibilities in relation to visitors and
providing support when required.
* To support each service user as they desire to develop a fuller
awareness of his/her potential, skills, interests and talents.
* To support service users to integrate into their community
* To develop and maintain positive working relationships with
partner organisations such as mental health teams, local authorities,
other housing associations and community supports, etc.
* Tor undertake other work that may be assigned to by the CEO

COMMUNICATION

* To attend relevant meeting as requested by funders and participate
in training as required
* To prepare quarterly reports and/or as requested by management and
funder
* To liaise and work effectively with relevant personnel in Cork
Mental Health Housing Association and other relevant agencies, e.g.
Local Authority, Health Service Executive etc.
* To adhere to Policy and Procedures within the service.

FINANCE

* To adhere to the annual budget for the Project
* To adhere to the Service Level Agreements for the Project and to
ensure the return of data and information agreed by funders.
* To provide information as required for grant applications to fund
the services and costs of the service
* To promote networking with appropriate voluntary and statutory
agencies

HEALTH & SAFETY

* To ensure that necessary fire, health and safety policies and
procedures are adhered to.
* To adhere to procedures those are in place for responding to
emergencies within the project.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

* A level 8 degree in social care or related discipline i.e. social
work, psychology
* At least two years? experience working with this client group,
experience with the housing sector would be a distinct advantage
* An understanding of the issues affecting people who are homeless
and sustaining a tenancy
* Knowledge around mental health issues
* The ability to work on own initiative
* Proficient IT Skills and knowledge with a database
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and
written are essential
* To have excellent report writing and record keeping skills
* A full clean driver?s license and use of a car to visit tenants
in their homes.
