GORT RESOURCE CENTRE JOB OPPORTUNITY

POST: FAMILY SUPPORT AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To support and work with the Board of Directors of Gort Resource
Centre CLG, Coordinator, administrator and volunteers to implement the
Centre?s plan of work; through its aims and objectives, Service
Level Agreement and to raise awareness of identified local needs and
participate in responding to these needs.
To provide family support to children, individuals and families in our
community that links to the 5 national outcomes through positive and
sustainable interventions.
To network with other relevant agencies both statutory and voluntary
and be actively involved in relevant interagency work.

KEY AREAS OF WORK:

Family Support

* Build on and develop the current family support work specific to
the Gort Resource Centre
* Engage directly with individuals and families to identify family
support needs and to collectively respond to those needs in a way that
is culturally sensitive and child centred.
* Participate in Tusla led Child and Family Support Networks and
promote and support the implementation of the Meitheal National Early
Intervention Practice Model including through taking on the role of
Lead Practitioner.
* To contribute to the implementation of the five national outcomes
developed for children and young people.
* Work as part of the Gort Resource Centre team to deliver and
develop relevant Family and Parent Supports.
* Work with and liaise with other agencies and organisations both
statutory and voluntary.

Community Development

* Identify factors leading to disadvantage in the local community and
work with the Voluntary Board of Directors, Co-ordinator and
administrator to highlight and respond to these issues;
* To proactively work in a collaborative fashion to challenge,
prevent and mitigate the impact of poverty, isolation, marginalisation
and adverse experiences by capitalising on strengths and building
individual, family and community resilience within Gort and its
catchment area;
* Develop, facilitate and evaluate relevant community development,
leadership or capacity building training in the community.
* As part of the team to promote the work of the project through
appropriate outlets
* To identify relevant funding streams and complete grant
applications.
* Support and work with the volunteers of the Centre.
* To assist in supporting the work of T?gh Sayre Kinvara Outreach.

GORT RESOURCE CENTRE

* Prepare monthly written reports for the coordinator to be included
in the operational report for the board of directors, including
information of meetings with other agencies/groups where appropriate.
* Attend weekly team meetings.
* Identify, develop and promote policies and procedures as part of
the team.
* Work within the policies, procedures and governance of Gort
Resource Centre
* Accountable to the Board of Directors through regular support and
supervision with the Coordinator and BOD as required both orally and
written.
* This position is part of the staff team responsible for the day to
day running of Gort Resource Centre & T?gh Sayre
* Participate in ongoing training and development when requested and
where it enhances the delivery of services and continued professional
development.
* Work closely with staff and volunteers in the existing friendly
and cooperative environment.
* Promote communication and networking.
* Any other tasks as requested by Coordinator and/or Board of
Directors.
