EDUCATION OFFICER - WORLDWISE GLOBAL SCHOOLS

LASC (Latin America Solidarity Centre) is a membership-based
organisation. We are individuals who share a passion for real social
change in Latin America and Ireland, and we believe that peace with
justice and equality for all can come only through genuine
participation of everyone in society?s decision making.

From its foundation LASC has challenged the many social,
environmental, and economic issues facing Latin America, always
working in solidarity and cooperation with the people affected.

To help us further our work, LASC are recruiting a dedicated and
proactive part-time Education Officer. The Education Officer will work
on our WorldWise Global Schools project. WorldWise Global Schools was
set up in **Apply on the website** as the key channel through which
Irish Aid support for Global Citizenship Education in post-primary
schools is to be coordinated. The aim of the programme is to increase
the number of post-primary schools engaging in quality global
citizenship education by providing a comprehensive range of supports.
This project involves three key areas, such as hosting workshops, the
training of teachers and student projects.

ROLE PROFILE

As part of the Education Officer role, the successful candidate will
be expected to organise and participate in the following key
activities:

* Outreach and Coordination with LASCs network of Spanish teachers in
schools around the country.
* Scheduling and planning up to **Apply on the website** workshops,
both online and in-person
* Facilitating workshops in-person and online, mostly with **Apply
on the website** to **Apply on the website** year olds.
* Facilitating teacher training workshops online.
* Coordinating the student projects with teachers and pupils.
* Coordinating Q&A sessions between pupils, teachers and people from
Latin American living in Ireland as part of the student video project.
* Organising and facilitating the Bolivia - Ireland school exchange.
* Ongoing communication with project funders WorldWise Global
Schools and participation in their networking events.
* Evaluation and reporting on the project for WorldWise Global
Schools.
* Developing a project proposal for the following year, in this case

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements for the
role:

* Minimum two years professional experience working in education with
young people.
* Fluent Spanish (min. C1 level).
* Knowledge and experience of Latin American culture and social
issues.
* Experience managing a project and keeping financial records.
* Experience with online facilitation.
* Interest in, and commitment to, social justice and change in Latin
America and Ireland.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES

Although not essential, having the following will be an asset to your
application:

* Full Driving License and access to a car.
* Working knowledge of the Irish secondary school system and the
Leaving Certificate Spanish curriculum.
* Experience with funding applications and reporting to funders.
* Experience working in Development Education/Global Citizenship
Education.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

LASC is offering the following to the successful candidate:

* A part time contract, of an expected **Apply on the website** hours
per week.
* A nine-month contract, running for the duration of the school year
(September to June).
* An hourly rate of ?**Apply on the website**. A separate rate of
?**Apply on the website** per workshop will be paid to the
successful candidate.
* Annual leave calculated at 8% of hours worked and public holidays.
* Reimbursement of travel expenses incurred.
