PART TIME YOUTH ACTIVITIES WORKER/YOUTH WORKER

The Fountain Youth Project is a youth service operating under the
Fountain Resource Group, a community organisation that operates a
number of services in the Dublin 8 area. The Fountain Youth Project is
developing its service catering for the needs and interests of young
people.

We are now seeking to recruit the following key part time position

Activities Worker on a **Apply on the website** Month Fixed Term
Contract:
TITLE OF POST: Youth Activities Worker or Youth Worker
The Youth Activities Worker or Youth Worker will be responsible for
implementing a range of programmes to meet the developmental needs of
young people deemed to be ?at risk?. They will work with two
professionally trained full time youth workers.
REPORTS TO: Coordinator and Management
LOCATION: Basin Lane, James Street, Dublin 8.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

* Youth Activities Worker: Minimum Level 5 QQI in a relevant
discipline (Youth and Community, Social Science Etc.) and relevant
experience
* In order to be considered for the Youth Worker pay scale a
relevant degree level and 2 years relevant experience or NSETS degree
in Youth and Community Work is required

THE YOUTH ACTIVITIES WORKER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

* Identifying young people who would benefit from involvement in
programmes and activities and encouraging their involvement through
outreach, school visits, and referral from other service providers.
* Delivering programmes to respond to issues such as drug misuse,
early school leaving, health education and racism.
* Delivering interest-based projects/ activities such as dance,
music, sport, photography, environmental studies.
* Developing appropriate responses to meet the personal, social and
developmental needs of young people which may involve local schools,
parents and other service providers.
* Ensuring youth work approaches and methodologies are employed such
as centre based programmes, group work, structured drop in, and
individual support.
* Encouraging young people to actively participate in the design and
development of programmes and offering opportunities for them to
feedback on the programmes delivered.
* Advocating on behalf of young people to other service providers
and third parties where appropriate.
* Liaising with other agencies/ services working with young people
and attending at meetings of these agencies/ services where
appropriate and agreed.
* Attending and participating in the team meetings of the youth
project/service
* Compiling reports deemed necessary by the Coordinator and
completing them in a timely fashion.suggest leave this out
* Assisting in the development of a training programme for
volunteers.suggest leave this out
* Supporting and developing new and existing youth groups in the
local community.
* Participating in relevant in service training as agreed with the
Coordinator..
* Carrying out the work in a professional manner guided by the
principles of the Fountain Youth Service.
* Working regular evenings, and at weekends as required.
* Undertaking additional duties as may be required from time to
time.

additional duties will be included)

HOURS OF WORK

the website**.5 hours per week. The nature of this post requires the
holder is flexible in working hours to cover the operational times of
the service and the centre on a rota basis. This will involve
scheduled evening and weekend work.
