REQUEST FOR TENDER FOR TRAVELLER MEN MENTAL HEALTH RESEARCH PROJECT

Donegal Travellers Project is currently inviting tenders from suitably
qualified candidates to conduct participatory research which targets
the mental health challenges and needs of Traveller men between the

CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND OF DTP:

Donegal Travellers Project is a locally based community development
organisation of Travellers and members of the wider community working
for justice, equality and human rights for and with the Traveller and
Roma communities in Donegal.

RESEARCH PROJECT REMIT: GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS

This project is funded under Connecting For Life Donegal and will be
commissioned to an independent tenderer who has relevant expertise in
conducting this type of work with specific preference given to those
who can demonstrate their experience working with marginalised groups
including the Traveller and Roma communities.

AIM: To deliver high quality independent research which identifies the
emergent issues on the impact of Traveller men?s mental health in
Donegal between the ages of **Apply on the website** with
consideration to be given to how measures introduced in response to
COVID-**Apply on the website** have impacted on Traveller men?s
mental health. It will consider recommendations and responses for
services to ensure that the needs of Traveller men who are at risk of
poor mental health are met.

A minimum of the following points should be addressed in the research:

* Explore the issues, needs and interests of Traveller men who
experience mental health challenges between the ages of **Apply on the

* Identify what is working well and identify areas of refinement to
increase access of Mental Health services for Traveller men in the
county.
* Explore the impact of COVID-**Apply on the website** and the
responses to the pandemic on Traveller men?s mental health in
Donegal.

We are proposing a mixed methods approach including consultation with
Donegal Travellers Project Primary Health care Team and
interviews/focus groups with Traveller men targeted to participate.

SERVICES:

* Design and formulate the research questions to explore the
challenges and impacts experienced by Traveller men in Donegal.
* Carry out between **Apply on the website** targeted interviews and
**Apply on the website** focus groups drawing on the need identified
above. This will be supported by the Primary Healthcare Men?s Team.
* Through the interviews and focus groups, identify and analyse the
results, and summarise the findings to be compiled in a final report
to be presented to the DTP Board of Management.
* To Provide regular updates to the Project Manager overseeing the
progress.

_The successful applicant will use a random sample to identify the
participants and will be asked to work closely with the Men?s Health
Team within the organisation. The applicant will need to consider
ethical issues before, during and after the research while also
considering the methods to be used and types of data to be gathered._

ASSESSMENT OF APPLICANTS:

Each applicant will be assessed on the basis of:

* Demonstrated knowledge and understand of the challenges experienced
by the Traveller community in particular of the impact on Traveller
men?s mental health
* Experience in research and relevant methodologies
* Knowledge and experience of working with community development
organisations
* Value for Money
* Good Interpersonal skills to carry out 1:1 interviews/focus groups
* Excellent report writing to prepare and draft a report and present
same to the Traveller Health Unit in CHO Area 1

BUDGET:

The budget for this work is set a maximum of ?6,**Apply on the

agreed via contracts.

CONTRACT:

The successful applicant will be required to enter into a contract
with Donegal Travellers Project, with Donegal Travellers Projects?
standard terms and conditions. This will include conditions such as:

* Completion of the research within the timeframe specified.
* Terms relation to intellectual property

Once the contract is agreed and signed, the successful applicant and
Donegal Travellers Project will be required to adhere to all terms and
conditions.
