JOB TITLE: COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH WORKER

REPORTING TO: Centre Coordinator

CONTRACT TYPE: Full time permanent

LOCATION: Cork (Some travel may be required)

PURPOSE OF ROLE: Primarily to provide and support individual recovery
work to people affected by mental ill health. Recovery focused group
work will be required.

PURPOSE

* To promote the aims and objectives of Shine.
* Promote and model recovery ethos and values
* Empowering people to manage their mental health effectively

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Work as part of the Shine Cork team
* Building trusting and non-judgemental relationships with users of
the service
* Listening and working with people on their journey using a range
of recovery approaches
* Support and encourage individuals formally and informally
* Engage in one to one and group work
* Developing personal knowledge and practice around mental health
work
* Maintaining up to date records of their work
* Participation in individual, team and organisational meetings
including trainings and supervision.
* Adherence to all Shine policies and procedures in conducting all
elements of your role e.g. Health and Safety, Financial governance,
Conduct, etc.
* Running and developing innovative mental health initiatives within
and external to the Shine centre
* Developing partnerships with external partners
* Undertake any such duties as requested by Shine

CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

* An understanding and experience of working to the ethos of recovery
and person centredness
* Experience of working within a recovery and person-centred service
* Strong communication, listening and time management skills
* Openness to giving and receiving support as part of the role

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

* Recognised level 8 qualification in social care, community
development, psychology or similar
* Minimum of 2 years? experience working within mental health (not
including placement work)
* Training and/or personal development related to mental health and
recovery principles
* Proficient in Windows and Microsoft packages
* Understanding of complex impact of mental health on life
* Full clean drivers' licence

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

* Experience of working to a case management procedure and using IT
systems which support (Salesforce)
* Solution and Strength focused
* Calm manner, particularly when presented with distressing
situations
* Empathetic and non-judgemental
* Flexibility to work within a team and follow direction and lone
work with individuals on their recovery journey
* Facilitation skills/qualification
