JOB TITLE: DAY SERVICES MANAGER

REPORTING TO: Day Operations Manager

CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent

HOURS/SALARY: **Apply on the website**.5 Hours per week

SALARY: Linked to the HSE Consolidated Scale

ROLE:

MANAGEMENT:

* Management of Kilkenny day services location following the
principles of Low Arousal Approaches and positive practices for the
people who are supported throughout the week
* Implementation of the HSE New Directions Policy across SOS day
Services through the development of new opportunities as part of the
change management plan to reconfigure the location.
* Responsibility for the delivery of assessed support needs for all
people accessing day services in this location.
* Lead and support a staff team including staff supervision and
appraisal, rotas, team meetings, debriefing, and training.
* Liaise and actively participate in the day services management
team to foster and develop a consistent standard across all SOS day
service locations.
* Lead the development of a specific older person?s service using
best practice guidelines in areas such as dementia services or other
relevant disciplines.

PERFORMANCE & STANDARDS:

* Ensure appropriate liaison between people supported, their network
of support, family members and other professionals where applicable,
to ensure consistent planning and high standards of service provision.
* Ensure the service objectives are set and reviewed regularly with
a view to improving and developing the service.
* Establish, maintain and monitor standards of performance for all
aspects of the service appointed to you, including the involvement and
consultation of the people receiving support.
* Manage risk in a systematic way that is embedded in a culture of
promoting the dignity of risk while ensuring the safety, welfare and
quality of life for those supported by the service.
* Ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures,
national legislation, New Directions, The _Comprehensive Employment
Strategy_?for People with Disabilities **Apply on the website**, and
other applicable standards.
* Co-ordination of multidisciplinary supports such as psychology
(Studio III), behaviour support, sensory integration, and ensure
implementation of recommendations
* Ensure appropriate resources are available for quality service
provision.

EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS:

* Maintain regular communication with the individual?s family or
network of support through formal and informal means.
* Process and follow up on referrals to the service from HSE, other
services and families.
* Engage with other external stakeholders to promote and develop
opportunities for people we support to engage in valued roles in their
community.

PERSONAL PROFILE

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

* Degree level in social care/ education/ behaviour
support/management
* Qualification / Experience in older persons specific services e;g,
Dementia

EXPERIENCE:

* Experience in disability day service provision or supervisory role.
* Experience in communicating with families and multi-disciplinary
professionals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

* Have a knowledge of evidence-based practices, methodologies and
approaches found to benefit individuals with who we support and be
familiar with best practice in the field.
* Have attention to detail, be self-directed with the ability to
adapt to new situations, display strong service provision standards
and communicate effectively both verbally and in written format.
* Ability to supervise a team covering all aspects of practice.
* Flexibility, as from time to time additional duties/hours may be
required.
* Full drivers licence.
