SICAP EMPLOYMENT ADVISOR? DUBLIN SOUTH CITY PARTNERSHIP

Dublin South City Partnership (DSCP) is a local development company
delivering the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme
(SICAP) and other programmes across a large area of Dublin?s south
city. As a part of this work DSCP wishes to recruit an EMPLOYMENT
ADVISOR to work as a member of its SICAP Employment team. The position

EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT WORKER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (will include some of the following)

* To work as part of a team in delivering the work programme under
SICAP **Apply on the website**
* To provide one-to-one support and guidance to unemployed adults
with regard to education, training and employment opportunities?
* To prepare personal action plans for SICAP clients
* To provide individual and group supports to young people and young
adults who are unemployed
* To provide one to one support and guidance for?clients?setting
up their own business
* To engage with employers in the provision of employment and work
experience options for unemployed / underemployed clients
* To assist in the design and delivery of training and skills
development programmes for SICAP clients
* Design and delivery of relevant workshops and training including
Manual Handling training.
* To support the development of local business networks
* To liaise with?state agencies and community groups?in the
delivery of the SICAP work programme for unemployed people
* As appropriate, to initiate and assist in the submission of
funding proposals
* Administration duties including keeping the reporting system
(IRIS) up-to-date, ongoing evaluation of work, preparing reports and
records for funders, the company and other bodies
* To work cooperatively with other staff, board and committees in
meeting the objective of the SICAP programme
* To undertake, as requested, other relevant duties

PERSON SPECIFICATION

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

* A relevant 3rd level qualification (e.g. adult guidance,
entrepreneurship or?a related discipline)
* Significant prior experience in the following: provision of one to
one support to unemployed?adults?in terms of career progression and
employment/enterprise; provision of individual and/or group based
support to young unemployed people;
* Experience of local development and knowledge of the range of work
involved
* An ability to work collaboratively with a range of state and
community bodies
* A clear understanding of?how?state agencies who deal
with?issues of unemployment?and social exclusion?operate and how
they can be influenced
* An ability to develop innovative responses to social exclusion
problems
* Excellent IT skills and an ability to operate the required
reporting systems (e.g. IRIS)
* An ability to prepare reports and funding proposals for a variety
of agencies

PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL ATTRIBUTES

* Strong interpersonal and communication?skills and a capacity to
work with a range of individuals and agencies
* Ability to work to targets and to plan and prioritise work
* A flexible approach in the work place with a capacity to work
outside normal office hours

* Understanding of issues and barriers that face unemployment people
* Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary
organisation

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

* The Employment Advisor reports to the SICAP Employment Manager.

The Employment Advisor contract will run until the **Apply on the

relevant project scale commensurate with experience. The position will
