Chairperson, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC)
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission was established in
**Apply on the website**. Its mission is to make markets work better
for consumers and businesses. It is an independent statutory body with
responsibility for the enforcement of competition and consumer
protection law. As well as enforcement responsibilities, it has a
mandate to promote competition and consumer welfare across the whole
of the economy.

The Commission also has specific responsibilities concerning product
safety, consumer information and education in relation to financial
services, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Legislation currently
being developed will lead to an enhanced role for the CCPC in the
sphere of competition enforcement and consumer protection functions.
This is likely to bring significant additional responsibilities and
structural changes to the organisation. The Chairperson and Members of
the Commission lead the organisation as a collective decision-making
body, providing leadership, strategic direction, governance and
oversight at organisational level.

Applications are sought from suitably qualified persons for
appointment as a Chairperson of the Commission. The Chairperson is
responsible for leading all of the CCPC?s work. This primarily
involves internal management and corporate governance, external
representations and decisions. Given the changes in the CCPC?s
enforcement powers, he or she will be expected to adapt the
organisation to the new environment and develop a track record
demonstrating the effective use of these powers.

The successful candidate will have:
? A proven record of achievement at a senior level in a public or
private organisation in a competition, consumer, regulatory or
white-collar crime environment, with a demonstrable track record in
effective enforcement;
? Significant relevant expertise or experience in one or more of the
following areas: law, economics, public administration, competition,
consumer affairs or business generally, as required under Section

? Excellent analytical, judgement and creative problem-solving
skills, with a strong focus on delivering quality outcomes in the
public interest and where decisions are subject to external scrutiny
and review;
? Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills at
senior level, including the ability to develop effective relationships
with a complex range of stakeholders, including media.

_ABILITY TO_ foster, manage and leverage strong internal and external
networks and teams. This appointment is on a fixed term contract for a
period of 5 years duration which is renewable for one term at the
discretion of the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. If
