SOUTHSIDE TRAVELLERS ACTION GROUP IS RECRUITING FOR THE POST OF;

COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER

Southside Travellers Action Group is currently recruiting for the
position of Community Liaison Officer.

Southside Travellers envisions an Ireland where the human and civil
rights, dignity, hopes and distinct cultural identity of Travellers is
acknowledged and respected. The organisation seeks to play its part to
realise this vision through the design, development and delivery of a
series of integrated programmes which proactively respond to the needs
of Travellers in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown. The overall vision and
direction of the organisation is overseen by a voluntary Board of
Directors.

The position of Community Liaison Officer is funded by the Department
of Children, Equality disability &Youth.

The post is a pivotal role, in supporting the delivery of the
objectives of Southside Traveller?s Strategic Plan.

The role requires significant skill and expertise in programme design
& development, training, social inclusion, practice, and an innovative
and creative approach to the design, development and delivery of real
and meaningful services and supports for Travellers.

The ideal candidate will have clearly demonstrable leadership,
interpersonal, influencing, networking and communication skills. S/he
will have previous experience at a senior level in a similar sized
organisation and a strong track record of work in/with the community
development sector. S/he will also have a demonstrable commitment to
equality and social change.

Candidates will ideally be educated to degree or post degree level or
have equivalent experience. This is a full-time position.

JOB SPECIFICATION AND JOB DESCRIPTION; COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER

* Support the Director in achieving the overall Strategic aims and
objectives of Southside Travellers Action Group (STAG)
* To work directly with STAG? managers and staff to achieve the
best outcomes, and provide intensive and regular outreach to
Travellers in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown
* To train and support internal staff to reach targets and goals and
provide leadership direction to allocated staff and participants
* To participate fully in team meetings, meetings with external
services, to advocate and lobby on behalf of Travellers
* To gather information and undertake a needs analysis of the needs
of the community and record, report, and deal with and monitor all
issues that present
* To increase Traveller engagement with STAG, and provide a One Stop
Shop providing information to Travellers
* To liaise with families and support them and their individual
needs, in relation to education, accommodation, health employment,
training etc.
* To identify, arrange and plan events to support positive Traveller
Culture
* To encourage, target and support Travellers to take up leadership
roles in their community and county
* To organise and support Traveller participation directly with STAG
and with external agencies and committees
* Identify, refer and organise training for groups and individuals
in the community
* To plan, organise and facilitate community events, fundraising
events and training
* To facilitate and run conflict resolution workshops and
developmental groups
* To identify and secure funding to address emerging needs that
arise for Travellers in DLR
* To develop and maintain robust, effective working relationships
with other agencies, using an interagency approach
* To work creatively and exercise initiative to help the service
meet its core objectives and ensure service user?s needs are met
