Office of Senator Lynn Ruane: Political Assistant
Independent Senator Lynn Ruane is seeking a political assistant to
join her office in Seanad Eireann.

The political assistant will work as her primary administrative,
legislative and policy support in her capacity as a public
representative and as a member of the Oireachtas.

The role will be paid by the Houses of the Oireachtas at the
Secretarial Assistant (SA) pay scale, with the starting point on that
scale determined by previous experience.

* Strong organisational, interpersonal, administrative skills and
experience.
* Proven strategic and analytic ability.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

ADDITIONAL BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE

* Experience of working in within the Oireachtas and its systems.
* Experience or understanding of policy, politics and legislation.
* Experience in civil society advocacy, campaigning and community
development.
* Experience in public relations and communications roles.

QUALITIES SOUGHT IN CANDIDATE

* Ability to work to a high quality with tight deadlines.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on own
initiative as required.
* Courtesy, discretion and consideration for others.

DUTIES INVOLVED

* Office management in an active Senate office, including diary
management, correspondence and casework.
* Coordinating with the other senators and staff of the Civil
Engagement Group.
* Drafting legislative proposals, legislative amendments & major
policy reform projects.
* Engaging with the wide range of Oireachtas systems, including
parliamentary committees, political parties & groupings and the
Oireachtas Library.
* Assisting with fulfilling certain statutory obligations under the
Ethics Acts.
