The Irish Heart Foundation is Ireland?s national charity dedicated
to fighting heart disease and stroke. Every hour someone in Ireland
suffers a stroke and every day hundreds of people are diagnosed with
heart conditions. The lives of these people are often cut tragically
short. Many are left disabled. Almost 9,**Apply on the website** die

cardiovascular disease one of the nation?s biggest killers. We work
to turn this around ? support people to live healthy lives and avoid
cardiovascular disease, but also to support people living with heart
conditions and stroke.

THE ROLE

This is a fulltime role based within the Irish Heart Foundation?s
Health Promotion team. It is an exciting opportunity to be the sole
in-house dietitian, leading co-ordination of nutrition advice and
information for the public, health professionals and media as well as
for staff and volunteers. The individual will be actively involved in
a number of health promotion programmes and campaigns and provide
support to colleagues across the organisation. The ideal person will
be a self-starter, confident in engaging with a diverse range of
stakeholders and a proven ability to professionally represent IHF in
high profile public arenas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Work as part of IHF?s Health Promotion team to deliver on the
organisation?s strategic plan including a focus on health
inequalities and health literacy
* Advise and support healthcare sites implementing the IHF Healthy
Eating Award programme to support implantation of the HSE nutrition
standards for staff and visitors. Support caterers and carry out
catering audits in healthcare site restaurants (as necessary) to
enable them to provide and promote healthy options for staff and
visitors. Develop and maintain relationships with the HSE and key
catering contacts. Manage panel of contractor dietitians.
* Work with alternative education and training centres for early
school leavers and the IHF Children and Young People team to research
and develop a holistic behaviour change programme to improve the
health of learners
* Prepare and develop nutrition information, education and training
materials, campaign assets e.g. website and social media content,
leaflets, position statements.
* Advisor and media spokesperson on nutrition matters.
* Provide nutrition input on specific schools? health promotion
projects and materials.
* Work with and support other departments including Advocacy,
Patient Support and Fundraising, Marketing & Communications as
appropriate.
* Input into development and delivery of health professional
training
* Monitoring and advising internal teams on regulatory developments
at international and EU level in relation to food and nutrition e.g.
food labelling, nutrition and health claims, food marketing, nutrient
profiling models, reformulation and fiscal measures.
* Keep up to date on relevant nutrition research and debates and
participate in planned, relevant continuous professional development
activities in line with statutory registration.
* Liaise with key stakeholders on nutrition and nutrition policy
issues.
* Secretariat of Irish Heart Foundation Nutrition Council.
* Represent IHF on nutrition-related committees and activities as
deemed necessary by the Director.
* Responsible for reports and administration work related to
position.
* Input all appropriate contacts on CRM database and ensure contact
details kept up to date
* The successful candidate is expected to be flexible in this role
and carry out other duties that may be assigned to him/her from time
to time.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

_EDUCATION_

Candidates must hold a B.Sc. in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or have
similarly recognised qualifications. The qualification must be
approved by the Dietitians Registration Board of CORU. Minimum three
years relevant experience preferably in the area of health promotion
or public health.

_SKILLS_

* Demonstrated track record of health promotion in settings such as
workplace, schools and community.
* Understanding and knowledge of health inequalities
* Experience working with disadvantaged groups is an advantage.
* Training and practice in behavioural change. Understanding of
health literacy
* Excellent project management skills. Must be able to prioritise
workload, plan and work to multiple deadlines in a demanding
environment.
* Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal
skills and an ability to make complex topics accessible.
* Strong computer, database and IT/Social media and MS Office
skills.
* A self-motivated person. Ability to work on own initiative and as
part of a team in a busy department
* Ability to represent the Irish Heart Foundation in a professional
manner at all times.
* Fluent written and spoken English.
* Knowledge of data protection and consent principles and
legislation
* Must have access to own car and full driving licence.

_DETAILS OF ROLE AND APPLICATION PROCESS_

_This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday. The role is based in the
Irish Heart Foundation?s offices in Rathmines, Dublin. Currently
staff are working remotely and the successful candidate will be
supported to work remotely initially according to public health
guidelines._
