RESIDENTIAL SOCIAL CARE MANAGER (PIC)

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

With a vibrant team and rapidly growing business supporting
individuals and families Barr?g Healthcare are looking for a
candidate with considerable knowledge and experience of working in the
field of residential and social care with at least 5 years?
experience of working in at least a social care grade with young
people.

The Residential Manager will be responsible for the management and
effective delivery of residential care services. They will be
responsible for the day to day operations of the unit and ensure it
runs smoothly and in accordance with the policies and procedures of
Barrog Healthcare and in line with HIQA National Standards for
Children?s Residential Centres.

They will provide direct line management, supervision and leadership
for the Service and support our dynamic team and our business at an
exciting time of expansion.

The Residential Manager will ensure that the individuals we support
will be treated with dignity and respect, promoting a culture of
unconditional positive regard and compassion at all times.

LOCATION OF POST: This post will be based in our residential centre in
Drogheda
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The Residential Manager will report to the
Operations Manager.
SALARY: ?TBC dependent on experience.
JOB TYPE: Full time, permanent
PROBATION: 6 months
VETTING: All applicants will be subject to Garda Vetting and a request
to provide security clearance from any country in which they resided

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* To ensure that all care practices comply with relevant childcare
legislation, National Standards for Children?s Residential Centres,
and best practice.
* To actively promote, participate in and ensure the provision of
high standards of physical care, hygiene, and safety for all
children/young people resident in the Home.
* To manage the home so as to meet as far as possible the expressed
needs of the individual children/young people, and to promote positive
outcomes for them.
* To participate in the pre-admission and admission processes to
ensure that the placement needs of the child are fully identified and
individual care plans in place to meet these needs
* To attend and contribute to planning meetings, statutory reviews,
management team meetings and other meetings as required, representing
the Home in a positive fashion and where necessary, acting as an
advocate for the child and their family.
* To contribute to the development and maintenance of good working
relationships with parents and other family members, social workers,
teachers, doctors, and all other relevant professionals and agencies.
* To ensure that the young people?s views and wishes are sought
and acted upon where appropriate.
* To ensure that the Welltree model of care is fully integrated
within the centre?s care practices and to monitor and evaluate its
application.
* To ensure monthly summary reports/weekly reports on Children?s
placements are provided to the Social Worker and other relevant
parties
* To carry out regular audits of care standards and practices within
the home and develop creative ways of engaging young people in this
process.
* To contribute to the development and implementation of governance
systems within the company to ensure continuous improvement in the
quality of service provided.
* To maintain positive and mutually beneficial relationships with
external agencies and the local community

MANAGEMENT

* To organize and manage staff on a day-to-day basis in order to
maintain **Apply on the website** hours staff cover and consistent
care.
* To provide professional supervision to staff and participate in
staff appraisal in accordance with Barr?g Healthcare policies and
procedures.
* To ensure effective communication within the staff team regarding
operational practice, including systematic handovers between relevant
staff, accurate and detailed recording by all staff, and regular staff
meetings.
* To assist and support staff with the production of high quality
written reports and ensure all relevant recording is completed in an
accurate and timely fashion.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

* Carry out administrative and financial procedures in accordance
with the policies and procedures of Barrog Healthcare.
* To be involved with the preparation of reports, statistics and
other information that may be required by management.
* To work positively and effectively as a team member and to
contribute to policy development.

* To ensure the maintenance and promotion of a safe environment that
complies with health and safety and other legal requirements.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

_QUALIFICATIONS AND /EXPERIENCE._

A Level 8 qualification in Social Care or a relevant field i.e.
Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Youth and Community
Work, Social Work, Social Sciences, Teaching & Nursing and Disability
Studies (accepted in respect of Disability Centre Management only)
AND: A minimum of 5 years' experience working at least at a Social
Care Grade in a children's residential centre or in the area of health
and social care.
AND: An understanding of the requirements for registration under the
HIQA National Standards for
AND: A minimum of 1 years? experience of managing a team
AND: The requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of
the duties of the role
AND: Candidates must have a suitable standard of professional
attainments.
AND: Have proficient ICT skills including a working knowledge of
Microsoft Packages - Excel? and Word and be familiar with an email
package e.g. Outlook.
AND: Full Clean Driver?s Licence
AND: Permission to work in the Republic of Ireland

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES

_PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE_

A good understanding of policy, legislative and professional
requirements to ensure an appropriate standard of service delivery
(e.g. a working knowledge of the legislation relevant to role such as
the Child Care Act **Apply on the website**, Aftercare National Policy
and Procedure and Children First Guidelines), Vulnerable Adults
National Policy/Guidelines, HIQA regulations.

Demonstrate the ability to treat the client group in a non-judgemental
way and from a trauma informed perspective with respect at all times.

changing environment

Have an understanding of working within an inter-agency framework and
a harm reduction model of working.
