GENERAL SUMMARY The Risk seller risk management group is looking for a
highly talented and self-motivated individual to join our team. The
candidate would be a part of the PayPal Risk team located in San Jose,
CA. The Analyst will utilize data and statistical analysis to identify
and promote new strategies to optimize PayPal?s seller risk
management; Support overall risk goals through detailed data mining
and analysis that results in policies, test-and-learn pilot programs
and broad strategies to deliver efficiency, loss reduction and better
customer experience; manage seller/merchant risk monitoring (MRM)
strategies to optimize effectiveness of monitoring including PayPal
and seller gross loss as well as customer experience; manage the
overall strategy and foresee development of various business
initiatives & programs globally; develop and manage reporting and
value assessment for work; research and develop new risk tools and
platforms to support overall organizational goals.

Job Profile

PayPal seeks a business-savvy, data-driven and action-oriented Senior
Risk & Strategy analyst to focus on analytical portfolio level
research- enabling us to cultivate deeper insights across our global
sphere of merchants and to optimize trade off?s between risk
exposure, losses, profitability and customer experience.

The mission of the team is to foster a data-driven culture and drive
end-to-end customer thinking throughout PayPal ? converting analysis
and insights through to value articulation and realization. You will
team with world-class professionals to develop and test strategies
that ultimately impact the bottom line. And you will do it all in a

Responsibilities include:

? Assist in discovery of new opportunities to grow and optimize
business and risk/reward trade off?s through Analytics.

? Support global and regional strategic initiatives across the
Commercial risk portfolio

? Deep dive analyses on very large data using SQL/SAS or other tools
and structuring of analyses using MS Excel.

? Maintain and enhance management reporting dashboards using
reporting tools such as Tableau, QlikView etc.

? Use the power of analytics to identify optimization opportunities
across Risk management, Product, Marketing and Regional Businesses.
Support rapid test and learn and assimilation of these findings into
the business.

? Use analytics and statistics to improve our ability to detect,
understand and address emerging trends across portfolio and identify
levers that maximize the risk reward trade off?s.

? Cultivate insights across the portfolio using both internal and
external data, support implementation of changes.

? Share insights and have comfort in being able to present to a wide
array of stakeholders.

Job Requirements

Experience

? Bachelor?s or Master?s Degree in a quantitative field
(Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics)

? 2 + year of related experience in Business or risk analytics in a
fast moving and matrixed environment

? Previous experience in product, marketing or business analytics a
plus

? 2+ experience with SQL OR a major software engineering language
(Python, C++) required

? Familiarity with statistical packages (SAS or R) and reporting
tools (QlikView and Tableau) is highly desired.

? 2+ years of experience in relational database querying (SQL,
Teradata)

business strategies

? Credit Risk: Support step-change improvements in risk performance
by connecting drivers of future risk trends to historical behavior,
creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring
and analysis

? Execution: Involve problem frame-works, develop hypotheses, test
and analysis, solution development, scope operational feasibility,
lead implementation efforts and develop a monitoring plan

? Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across PayPal including:
Product, Data Technology, Sales, Operations, Finance and others to
drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability

? Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of
decision making and problem solving based on analytics Conceptual
thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative
orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on
rigorous analytic risk management

? Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: He/she should
