ABBOTT IRELAND DIABETES CARE DIVISION DONEGAL

The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures
FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in
diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the
FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Microbiology Technician is responsible for maintaining the
effectiveness of the site environmental monitoring programme in
accordance with GLP, GMP and regulatory requirements.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensure compliance to site and divisional policies and procedures.
* Support continuous improvement and effective maintenance of the
site environmental monitoring programme
* Adhere to Health and Safety within the working environment;
highlight opportunities for improvement to EHS performance
* Perform a variety of microbial sampling to support raw material,
utilities, in-process and sensor manufacture in a cGMP regulatory
environment
* Perform environmental monitoring including water, surface, viable
and non-viable particulate air monitoring of controlled areas in
accordance with GLP,GMP and regulatory requirements.
* Coordinate samples for microbial analysis
* Ensure that all work carried out is in compliance with the
required regulatory standards, conforms to company policies and
standard operating procedures (SOPs)
* Review and approval of microbiological test results.
* Complete records on time and review data for accuracy and
completeness
* Assist in the design and set-up of the QC microbiology programme
and calibration of monitoring instruments
* Participate in microbiological validations as needed for
cleanroom/ utilities qualification program
* Assist in the identification of microbiological root cause
analysis and provide technical advice as needed.
* Initiate and completes CAPAs and Change Controls in accordance
with site procedures
* Perform and raise any Unplanned Events or Out of Specification
results in a timely manner and inform the Team Lead immediately of any
such events.
* Create new and update current SOPs as needed.
* Trend data for Environmental Monitoring. This also involves the
generation and presentation of quarterly and annual reports
* Maintain a ?right first time? approach to Quality Records by
ensuring accountability for functional responsibilities.

ACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPE
* Responsible for taking actions and making decisions that minimise
the risk of patient harm or safety as it relates to the product being
manufactured by ADC.
* The job holder must ensure all quality records associated with the
role are well organised, clear and compliant.
* The job holder is expected to be sufficiently knowledgeable on the
procedures and records that support their area in order to support
area during audits
* Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and
Divisional Policies and performing other duties as assigned by Team
Lead

EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES
* Third level science / engineering or Manufacturing qualification
* Two years in a Manufacturing / Science or Engineering environment.
