and suicide in Irish Prisons?
ABOUT THE ROLE/PERSON
Samaritans Ireland is looking to recruit a part-time Prisons Lead
Officer to work with our Executive Director for Ireland, and the
Samaritans Prisons Team in the UK. The post is a great opportunity to
contribute to the vital work of Samaritans in Ireland within the Irish
Prison Service, and specifically, support the Samaritans Listener
Scheme which trains prisoners to provide listening support to their
fellow prisoners.
We are looking for a self-starting individual, committed to the values
of Samaritans, and with a track record in direct work with prisoners,
and the prison system. The successful candidate will be responsible
for supporting the work of the Samaritans Regional Prison Support
Officer.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL REQUIRE:
* A good understanding of the Irish Prison Service.
* Experience of working with prisoners.
* Experience of working with volunteers.
* Experience of managing, planning, and delivering specific
projects.
* Experience of facilitating meetings, and preparing papers and
reports to a high standard.
* Good presentation skills, and ability to deliver presentations to
a range of audiences.
This is a new post, offered on an initial one-year fixed term contract
basis (3 days per week), and will require some limited travel to
Samaritans Central Charity office in the UK (subject to COVID **Apply
