The Tallaght Travellers Community Development CLG is a partnership
between Travellers and settled people working together to create
opportunities that enable Travellers to bring about improvements in
their status, life chances and living conditions which validate and
respect Travellers culture and ethnicity.

VACANCIES

We currently have two vacancies:

* Primary Health Care Coordinator ? Primary healthcare for
Travellers project
* Men?s Health Worker

_PRIMARY HEALTH CARE COORDINATOR - PRIMARY HEALTHCARE FOR TRAVELLERS
PROJECT_

THE ROLE:

To facilitate and support the promotion of a primary health care model
to the Traveller Community through empowerment of Traveller Community
Health Workers in addressing the health status of Travellers in the
community.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Candidates should have a background in the following areas; Public
Health Nurse, Registered General Nurse, Community Health Project
Personnel, Community Development Personnel or relevant others with a
qualification in Health Promotion Community or Public Health and with
3 years? experience working in a community setting or with
marginalized groups.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:

* Professional knowledge in the area of Health Promotion, Primary
Health Care, Community Development and National Strategies with a
focus to improving the quality of life of Irish Travellers
marginalized groups
* Evidence of being a team player and skills in partnership and team
working essential ? Evidence of effective planning, training and
organizing skills
* Ability to manage deadlines and effectively manage multiple tasks
* Effective communication skills including the ability to creatively
present information in a clear and concise manner, taking cognizance
of culture and literacy ability
* Ability to facilitate and manage individuals and groups
* Evidence of ability to empathise with and treat colleagues and
participants with dignity and respect
* Awareness and appreciation of the needs of the community
* Ability to work with multidisciplinary team members
* Be self-directed and motivated
* Planning, training, leadership, documentation and report writing,
research and analytical skills.
* Experience of using information technology

_MEN?S HEALTH WORKER_

THE ROLE

To work on the areas of Traveller Men?s Health as outlined in the
All Ireland Traveller Health Study, through working collaboratively
with Traveller men and the agencies responsible for supporting
Traveller Men?s health and though employing methods such as the
Men?s Shed.

JOB SPECIFICATION

* A thorough understanding of Traveller men?s issues, particularly
in relation to Traveller men?s health
* Knowledge of the national policy pertaining to Traveller health
(AITHS)
* Knowledge of mental health issues and their impact on Travellers
* Experience of community development work
* Experience of working with Traveller Men or in a Traveller
organisation
* A demonstrable commitment to human rights and social justice and a
commitment to work from an anti-racist and equality work perspective
* Demonstrated capacity to work on your own initiative and as part
of a team
* Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
* Computer skills
* Ability to work with a wide range or stakeholders
* Be dependable and flexible
* Be prepared to travel as part of your work
* Access to own transport with full clean driving licence
