Position: Theatre Nurse Mullingar

JOB DESCRIPTION

Servisource Healthcare is currently recruiting experienced Theatre
Nurses (Scrub Nurse, Anesthetic Nurse, Recovery Nurse, Endoscopy
Nurse) to be placed in our client facility within the Mullingar area.

This is a whole time equivilant role (Monday to Saturday- **Apply on
the website** hours per week) with an immediate start.

The ideal candidate will be caring, empathetic and compassionate, with
excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to
work on a team and on your own initiative.

THEATRE STAFF AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Scrub Nurse:
* Aware of gowning and gloving technique and correct procedure for
handwashing
* Understand the correct procedure for setting up a sterile trolley
and maintaining sterility during surgery
* Assist the surgeon during the surgery and carry out ?Time Out?
for all surgeries.
* Aware the correct procedure for the counting of swabs, blades,
sutures and injection needles and disposable of all sharps
* Aware of the correct procedure for the handover of histology
specimens for the laboratory
* Complete all relevant documentation

Anaesthetic Nurse
* Assisting the Anaesthetist when putting the patients to sleep
* Preparing all equipment such as anaesthetic machine and carry out
the watchdog test on machine
* Drugs needed for the daily lists
* Aware of various tubes and equipment needed in order for
anaesthetic to be administered
* Knowledge of difficult intubation trolley and its contents and
uses
* Awareness of controlled drug count at beginning and end of lists
* Complete all relevant documentation

Recovery Nurse:
* Competent in the care of the unconscious patient and competent in
the post-operative care such as, respiratory efficiency and function,
suction, and oxygen therapy
* Awareness of the various tubes when intubating a patient for
example Laryngeal Mask Airway and various ET tubes.
* Pain management ? Intra/Post op pain scoring system
* Ensure all relevant documentation is complete before the patients
return to the ward, for example, care plans, observations and Early
Warning Score.
* Handover to ward nurse with appropriate information.

Endoscopy Nurse
* Aware of safe management and safe handling of scopes ( gastro and
colonoscope)
* Competent when the procedure is complete in how to clean and
detach the scopes for the processor
* Awareness of PPE when carrying out scopes
* Understand the importance of correct handover of histology for the
laboratory.
* Competent in maintenance of patients airway while the patient is
sedated and awareness of the patients vital signs during the procedure
* Complete all relevant documentation

NURSING APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING;
* Candidates must have up-to-date and relevant certificates in Manual
Handling, CPR and Infection Control.
* Willingness to undertake Garda Vetting is essentia
* Registered on the Irish live register - An Bord Altranais
* Full immunisations against Hepatitis B are a must
* All candidates must have a Nursing Midwives Board of Ireland
(NMBI/ABA) PIN
* At least 2 years experience working in a Theatre in a busy
Hospital environment
