On behalf of our client, we are looking to recruit a Senior Animal
Technician to assist with setting up a team in a newly established
Germ-Free egg facility to ensure that it is ready to go to
commercialisation in **Apply on the website**. The successful
candidate will be a key member of the business, responsible for the
day to day operation of the flocks, bringing them up to commercial
level and leading a team of technicians.
Basic Requirements:
* Relevant Germ-Free experience and working with Germ Free isolators,
individuals with experience of working with SPF animals will also be
considered
* Experience working with poultry in a research environment is ideal
* Holder of an HPRA individual authorisation or sufficiently
experienced to be eligible to apply for an individual authorisation
* Strong familiarity with isolators
* Proven ability to multitask and work across multiple projects
simultaneously
* Experience working in a regulated environment
* Team Player who can collaboratively work with cross-functional
groups
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support the Senior Project Director, to ensure the company meets its
key strategic objective to have Germ Free eggs available for customers
in **Apply on the website**
* Responsible for the day to day maintenance of the SPF flock to be
used for generation of the GF flock and of the subsequent generation
flocks
* Conduct non-invasive procedures and aseptic techniques
* Microbiological and serological sampling of GF flocks
* Provide support to other members of the team as required
* Provide accurate production and financial information e.g. stock
control, hatch rates, male/female ratios etc. to the Senior Project
Director
* Accurate record keeping ensuring compliance with SOPs
* Support the Senior Project Director in the identification of key
risks throughout the GF product development lifecycle
* Identify opportunities to optimise relationships with vendors in
relation to materials, processes, and equipment
* Contribute to overtime, on call, and weekend work on a shared basis
as required
