Kinsale Youth Community Caf?: Youth Worker (Part-Time)
Kinsale Youth Community Caf?, known as?SQUID CAF?,?is an
independent, non-profit voluntary organisation engaged in providing a
Youth Caf??for the young people of Kinsale. We provide a
safe?and?secure space where young people can?be
themselves,?socialise with their?friends, and?engage in
developmental activities so as to foster a sense of community for
their area.

THE COMMITTEE?WISHES?TO APPOINT A?YOUTH?WORKER?WHO WILL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OVERALL?SUPERVISION?OF THE?CAFE.

THE DUTIES WILL ALSO INCLUDE:

* The?DEVELOPMENT OF A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT?in The Caf? which
will encourage young people to use the caf? as a?social?hub on a
regular basis.
* A willingness to?INTERACT?AND FOSTER POSITIVE
RELATIONSHIPSWITH?THE?YOUNG PEOPLE?who are utilising the facilities
in the Caf?.
* The?ORGANISATION OF ACTIVITIES,?BOTH IN THE CAF? AND OUTSIDE
THE?CAF?,?to enrich the?engagement?experience of young people who
use the facilities we provide.
* MANAGING THE TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS; rostering as well ensuring that
all volunteers are aware of best practice and all the?policies?and
procedures in the day to day running of the Caf?.
* LIAISING WITH OTHER VOLUNTARY AND STATUTORY BODIESinvolved in
National Youth and Community activities as well as liaising with
parents of the Caf??s users and other parties when required.
* ACCURATE RECORD KEEPING?of those attending and?using?the Caf?
and a day-to-day basis.
* PROVIDING?up to date records of those attending the Caf? at
monthly committee meetings.

OVERVIEW?OF THE POSITION

This is?a?part-time?position,?**APPLY ON THE WEBSITE** HOURS PER
WEEK, on a?6 MONTH CONTRACT.?However it is intended, subject to
funding and other factors that it will become a full-time permanent
position in the future.?The?REMUNERATION?will be appropriate to the
successful applicants experience and qualification.?The person
appointed will have?relevant experience in a similar position.

The successful candidate will be will be given a contract of
employment. This contract of employment will commence in
September?and will be a?FIXED TERM CONTRACT FOR 6 MONTHS.

As our work involves contact with young people, candidates under
consideration for employment in The Squid Caf? will be subject
to?GARDA VETTING.

The successful candidate will undergo?TWO REFERENCE?checks before
commencing employment.

This post is?DEPENDENT ON LOCAL FUNDRAISING?and therefore employment
maybe terminated as a result of funding being ceased.

The?successful candidate?will be expected to work a minimum
of?**APPLY ON THE WEBSITE** HOURS PER WEEK?inclusive of preparation
time and?thedevelopment of resources for the Cafe.

The position will require?FLEXIBILITY?in relation to working hours.

The successful candidate may be required to work a flexible working
week dependent on the needs of the Caf? with evenings and weekend
work occurring.

The duties of the?successful candidate shall be informed?by the
Organisation?s National Executive and/or its Chief Executive or
nominee.

Salary will be discussed with the successful candidate upon
appointment.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE (E=ESSENTIAL; D=DESIRABLE)

* Education to National Diploma or Degree standard preferably in
Youth / Community Work (note: candidates with exceptional, relevant
work experience may also be considered in lieu of degree
qualifications) (E)
* A minimum of 1 year relevant work experience (E)
* Ability to engage target group (E)
* Paid or voluntary, experience working with young people (D)
* An understanding of Youth Work and Community Work methodologies
