EDUCATION & FAMILY DEVELOPMENT WORKER
CANAL COMMUNITIES REGIONAL YOUTH SERVICE (CCRYS) / BLUEBELL YOUTH
PROJECT (BYP)
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (PART TIME)

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT:

The Education & Family Development Project aims at working with
identified families, facing difficulties as a result of substance
misuse:

* To deliver direct support to parents and children/young people to
meet the specific educational needs of the young people.
* To support access, uptake, retention, and participation of young
people in formal education and other relevant educational programme
through particular interventions with the parents.
* To enhance the capacity of educational services to engage
successfully with the identified families and to facilitate and foster
positive communication that will reduce educational disadvantage or
increase the educational attainment of the children/young people.

CCRYS / BYP now seeks applications from suitably qualified and
experienced people with an understanding of issues relating to
educational disadvantage; understanding of parental engagement in the
education of their children and demonstrated understanding and
commitment to social inclusion and youth work principles.

QUALIFICATION:

ESSENTIAL:

* Relevant 3rd level qualification (Youth and Community Work, Family
Support, Social work, Social Care, Education, Addiction Studies).
* Minimum of 3 years? experience of working in a relevant field,
engaging hard to reach young people and families.
* Understanding of issues relating to educational disadvantage.
* Understanding of parental engagement in the education of their
children.
* Demonstrated understanding and commitment to social inclusion and
youth work principles.
* Experience of outreach and detached working ? and ability to
engage in direct targeting of programme users.
* Experience of establishing contact and developing relationships
with other community and statutory agencies, to ensure collaborative
working to best meet the needs of the young person and family.

DESIRABLE:

* Experience of working with young people and families experiencing
difficulties due to substance misuse.
* Experience of delivery of evidence-based Parenting Programmes.
* Experience of youth work.
* Full driving licence.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

* SALARY: CDYSB salary scale applies (depending on experience and
skills)
* HOURS OF WORK: **Apply on the website**.5 hours a week (2.5 days a
week), hours will require flexibility
* Employers are CCRYS / BYP ? work will cover the CCRYS catchment
area.
