COMMUNICATIONS AND SOCIAL MEDIA OFFICER FOR THE IRISH AFTERCARE
NETWORK

* TERMS:?This is a short term contract position for **Apply on the

* LOCATION: We are currently envisaging a hybrid-working model,
combining office-based work in our offices in Leixlip, Co. Kildare and
working remotely.
* REPORTING TO: Breaking Through CLG manage and co-ordinate the
Irish Aftercare Network. You will be reporting to the National
Director, Breaking Through.

THE ROLE

The role will ideally suit someone with relevant Communications, PR,
Marketing and Social Media experience, who can multi-task, in
part-time hours. They will be passionate about the networks aims and
objectives.

The successful candidate will work across multiple tasks
online?_and_?offline, to raise awareness of the Irish Aftercare
Network.

The role will include overseeing the day-to-day communications
activities, including advocating on behalf of the network, social
media management, and PR.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Developing a communication strategy to grow our reach and
engagement on social media to include planning, posting, scheduling,
and monitoring
* Develop high quality written material focusing on key messages and
relevance for the target audience, to also include online material
* Assist with submission compilation, editing and proof-reading
* Create press releases and pitch stories to media outlets at
national level, scanning general news as well as sector news to
identify relevant opportunities to promote the network
* Maintain records of information for example lobbying records

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

* A passion for the area of work
* A relevant qualification
* Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written)
* Excellent proficiency in IT
* A thorough understanding of different communication channels
* Demonstrated experience of managing social media accounts,
including content creation, scheduling, monitoring, and performance
reporting
* Demonstrated experience of issuing press releases and working with
the media
* Excellent organisational skills and a high level of versatility
* Understanding of various stakeholders such as: members, funders,
politicians and government ministers
* Experience of working in the not for profit/NGO/ sector an
advantage
* Ability to work independently and use own initiative, as well as
integrating with a team(team player) and adding value

ABOUT THE IRISH AFTERCARE NETWORK

The Irish Aftercare Network provides advice and support to
professionals working with young people leaving care in Ireland. There
are over **Apply on the website** individual members of the Irish
Aftercare Network representing over **Apply on the website**
organisations covering every county in Ireland.

Aftercare is a term used to describe the planning and support put in
place to meet the needs of a young person who is leaving care services
at age **Apply on the website** years. Currently, there are
approximately **Apply on the website** young people in care in
Ireland. Each year, approximately **Apply on the website** to **Apply
on the website** young people leave the care of the State. The
professionals who support these young people are called Aftercare
Workers. Working in collaboration with other professionals, Aftercare
Workers are responsible for working with young people to help them
make a smooth transition from care to independent living.

AIMS OF THE IRISH AFTERCARE NETWORK

* Provide support to Aftercare Workers and other professionals
working with care leavers
* Create better outcomes for young care leavers in Ireland

OBJECTIVES:

* Share and promote models of best practice in aftercare
* Collate and disseminate evidence-based research
* Develop a directory of services and resources
* Provide peer support and access to training
* Advocate for the development of standards for young people leaving
care
* Facilitate quarterly network meetings for Aftercare Workers
* Host a National Annual Conference

The Irish Aftercare Network provides a forum for Aftercare Workers to
access peer support, information, training and an opportunity to
network with their peers. It also gives a platform to discuss current
issues of concern. The issues raised in these forums are then used to
advocate for policy reform and improvements in practice.
