Operating in Ireland, UK and China, our client designs and manufactures a range of products across a number of key markets and sectors. As well as designing and developing its own products, the client offers full contract manufacturing and related services to a number of multinationals.


 

Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical design engineer to come on board to develop a new Research and Design innovation centre to support the seven Plastics businesses and to centralise and formalise product design across the group.

This new Senior Design engineer will be responsible for the design, development, delivery to production of new production

They  will also be responsible for the value engineering of existing productions across the group

Responsibilities:

Use structured engineering and statistical techniques to design new products and develop new and existing products and processes whilst adhering to regulatory requirements, projects deadlines and products costs.

Design and set-up experiments,manage evaluation testing and work with suppliers/manufacturers in developing new and existing products.

Actively involved in specifying,sourcing,testing and approving material.

Prepare and lead critical technical design reviews,including preparation and presentation of supporting design documents.

Product manage transfer of product from concept/design phase to commercial manufacturing.

Create and maintain design-related technical notes building a complete design history file.

Compile and analyse operational,test and development data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products.

Manage and prepare engineering test protocols and reports.

Provide design concepts.

Work closely with manufacturing engineers to continually develop processes in relation to yield,overheads and labour efficiency.

 

Requirements:

Min 8 years industry experience in plastics manufacturing.

Science/Engineering/Quality Degree and relevant experience.

Knowledge in the use of a variety of materials (plastics,metals,adhesives etc).

Experience in bringing a product from concept/design phase to commercial manufacturing.

Significant experience with design control and ISO13485.

Strong project management and leadership skills essential.

Six Sigma green belt experience.

 

Package:

€60-80K depending on experience
