PURPOSE

In the OLS, we believe in the importance and value of the holistic
development of our students while they attend University. We are
currently recruiting for a Head of Leadership and Student Engagement
on a fixed-term basis. This is an exciting role to help shape the
lives of Dublin City University students. The role is two-fold:
firstly, ensuring the student representation function successfully
represents its members and adheres to the principles of democracy by
increasing engagement in the Students’ Union and helping students to
ensure their voice is heard across the University. Secondly, to
achieve this, we need to develop outstanding student leaders and this
role is fundamental in providing the support, training, and
development our leaders require for them to make an impact on our
campus and in society as they move forward in their career.

This role is perfect for someone who is proactive, displays strong
initiative, with a passion for student politics and/or working with
students and ready to hit the ground running. You will have a good
understanding of students’ unions and student leaders. You may
already be in a similar role within a students’ union, but we are
also interested in candidates from different voluntary or not for
profit sectors who bring transferable skills and are motivated to lead
a team that has the potential to make a significant impact in
students’ lives. You will need the soft skills to develop effective
and supportive relationships, identifying resources and strategic
problems. In addition, you will understand how to deliver the
priorities of our elected officers. You will know how to present
evidenced and reasoned ideas to develop projects to have the greatest
positive impact on our campus community.
