PURPOSE OF ROLE

Be the Registered Manager/Person in Charge of the assigned designated
centres under the Health Act **Apply on the website** (Care and
Support of Residents in Designated Centres for Persons (Children and
Adults) with Disabilities) Regulations **Apply on the website**,
Health Act **Apply on the website** (Registration **Apply on the
website** and the National Standards for Persons (Children and Adults
with Disabilities) Regulations **Apply on the website** and the
National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults
with Disabilities.

The PIC is responsible for the management of the house within their
responsibility under the guidance of the Director of Services.
Ensuring the implementation of care, education and safety of each
young person with an intellectual disability in a **Apply on the
website**-hour setting in accordance with HIQA regulations and the
Statement of Purpose and Function.

The following description is intended to give a broad outline of the
post only. It is neither inclusive nor definitive. Duties may be
altered or amended by the Organisation to suit the changing needs of
our service users. Staff will be given as much notice as possible
regarding any such changes. It is our policy to review job
descriptions on an on-going basis.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

STANDARDS & LEADERSHIP

* Ensure that an environment is created that is conducive to the
wellbeing of the residents and staff.
* To ensure that the high standards of professional care are
maintained at all times.
* To create and maintain good inter-personal relationships in all
areas of work.
* Initiating, maintaining and co-ordinating care, training,
treatment and education programmes for young people.
* Undertaking all aspects of home management and ensuring all staff
are familiar with HIQA regulations and prepared for announced or
unannounced inspections
* Maintaining good organisation in the house at all times,
especially in housekeeping, cleanliness, and hygiene.
* To provide effective leadership for staff within the house.
* To promote integration within the local community.
* Ensuring that staff within the house are aware of the proper use
and care of all equipment, and keeping inventories of all supplies,
stocks, and provisions.
* Encouraging and participating, where appropriate, in social and
recreational activities within and outside of the house.
* Keeping professionally competent, keeping training needs analysis
up to date.
* Participating in in-service training and attending professional
meetings as required.
* Be familiar with Gateway Community Care policies and procedures
particularly the community care procedures, ensure that they are
implemented and maintained.
* Arrange regular house meetings with staff team in the house.
* Always maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.
* Ensure that personnel are effectively deployed and motivated.
* Maintain a high standard of work performance, attendance,
appearance, and punctuality at all times.
* Ensure that good working relationships are always maintained with
colleagues.
* Promote and foster a team approach including the delegation of
duties to staff, ensuring that the diverse skills and experience of
all team members is optimised to enable the best possible outcomes for
both service users and staff team.
* Induction of new staff to their duties and ensure that regular
reports on performance are given to Assistant Director of Services
during probationary period.
* Ensuring that all residential care staff allocated to the House
are made aware of their duties. Monitor employee performance, ensuring
it is in accordance with professional standards and job description,
carrying out performance appraisal reviews ensuring these are returned
by required date.
* Participate in Six Monthly service and Annual Performance Review
System

QUALIFICATION, THE FUNCTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROFESSION MAY FORM
PART OF THE JOB FUNCTION._

SERVICE USER CARE

* Ensure that the spiritual needs of the young are supported and in
accordance with the ethos of the Gateway Community care.
* Ensure that each person with an intellectual disability is treated
with the utmost respect and dignity.
* To encourage all people to be actively involved in cleaning,
hygiene, cooking, washing caring for their clothing building up their
independence at all times and supporting young people to do the same.
* Ensuring that the service users attend at the appropriate
education at the time stipulated; to report on progress of training,
when required.
* To take service users to day services and other activities in
minibus or public transport, as necessary.
* Liaise with parents and families as required.
* Responsible for service users? pocket and other money ensuring
accurate records are kept of expenditure.

ADMINISTRATION & OPERATIONS

* Ensure that correct procedures are adhered to relating to the
storage, administration, and safe keeping of medication.
* Preparing reports and keeping accurate records in relation to
service users. Attending case conferences as required.
* Person on call - to be part an on ? call rota and aware of the
day-to-day situations within the home.
* Responsible for budgeting within house, ensuring that agreed
budgets are not exceeded and that accurate records are kept relating
to same
* Ensuring that in the event of accidents that they are reported
immediately, and fully investigated and written reports forwarded as
appropriate.
* Implementation of the health and safety policy in accordance with
the safety statement of the service. Ensure that all personnel are
familiar with emergency and other operational procedures and
regulations.
* Ensure that economy is exercised in relation to house supplies and
equipment.
* Ensure that annual leave is planned in accordance with company
guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS:

* Registered Nurse with the NMBI
* Have a minimum of three year?s post graduate experience in a
management or supervisory role in health or social care.
* Demonstrated experience and skill working with adults with Autism
/ Intellectual Disability
* Experience of working with individuals with behaviours of concern.
* Full clean driving licence
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Excellent co-ordinating skills
* Be a good role model for managing care home and to ensure all
practices are in line with the centres policies and procedures and
regulations.
* Must have enough IT skills to match role requirements.
