Health & Safety - EHS Advisor - Amgen



Employer

Our Client is Amgen and the role will be based in their Dun Laoghaire plant. The plant is one of the most dynamic in Ireland and is currently undergoing rapid expansion and capital investment.



Job Description:

Develop, monitor and implement environment, health and safety policies; to ensure the organization is compliant with health and safety legislation and corporate standards; and to reduce or prevent hazards, dangers and accidents.

The focus of the job will be to advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. process safety, fire regulations, industrial hygiene, noise etc.


Develop, implement and maintain an effective program and ensure compliance with the requirements of Irish/EU legislation and corporate standards. 

Develop systems to ensure all employees comply with all relevant legal safety requirements. 

Identify training needs, organise and co-ordinate training courses and prepare training material where appropriate. 

Co-ordinate functional safety team meetings. 

Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards, investigate root causes and identify corrective and preventative actions and report to management. 

Evaluate incident reports, and establish root causes and with Supervisors and Managers concerned, formulate & implement a plan of action to correct non-compliant behaviour or conditions. 

Liaise with on site contractors to ensure their compliance with Company safety regulations and adherence to safety standards. 

Conduct surveys and audits as required to identify and minimise the risk to company and employees. 

Assist with the preparation of emergency/contingency plans, review and update emergency procedures and carry out training with key staff. 

Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced. 

Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented. 

Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks. 

Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins. 

Ensure the safe installation of equipment. 

Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. process safety, fire regulations, industrial hygiene, noise etc.


Requirements

Degree qualified in Occupational Health & Safety or engineering degree combined with relevant experience.

Four/Five years relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry

A working knowledge of IPPC licensing compliance would be beneficial.

The focus of the job will be to advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. process safety, fire regulations, industrial hygiene, noise etc.
