Front Line Defenders: Canada Program Officer
_. The role will be
responsible for coordinating the verification of HRDs with regard to
the Canadian Government?s resettlement scheme, ensuring that the
support and services provided to HRDs and other stakeholders echo the
Organisations values and principles of work. It is a new program and
role in the organisation and the role may develop and change as it is
rolled out.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

* METICULOUS MANAGEMENT OF DOCUMENTATION
This role will be responsible for coordination and management of all
related applications ensuring robust administrative procedures are
adhered to at all stages.

* ANALYSIS & DECISION-MAKING
When reviewing potential applicants, the person in this role will have
to use a methodological approach and apply balanced judgement before
compiling recommendations to the Board for decisions.

* COLLABORATION
Acting as a central liaison between all stakeholders in this process
(HRDs, Front Line Defenders staff, ProtectDefenders.eu staff, UNHCR,
Canadian government) and representing Front Line Defenders in our
delivery of the programme.

* MEASURING IMPACT
Conducting detailed analysis and summation of all work undertaken and
trends identified to support further developments in this area,
internally and externally.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

_Required (Knowledge, skills and experience)_

* Very good understanding of the situation of human rights defenders
around the world and the risks that they face.
* Very good understanding of the challenges faced by refugees.
* Excellent organisational and project management skills
* Excellent political analysis and good judgement
* Excellent reasoning ability
* Very good negotiation and diplomacy skills
* Fluency (written & oral) in English and a second language relevant
to the work of HRDs (e.g. French/ Spanish/ Arabic/ Russian /Farsi
/Turkish/ Chinese)
* Excellent writing skills in English
* Experience of working in the area of human rights
* Experience of working with UNHCR or on refugee affairs
* Experience of working with people from different cultural
backgrounds

_Desirable (Knowledge, skills and experience)_

* Good understanding of particular risks and challenges faced by
marginalized Human Rights Defenders, including women, LGBTQI+
defenders, human rights defenders who do not have a high public
profile and indigenous defenders.
* Field experience of work with HRDs
* Experience of working on relocation of HRDs

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this role is ?**Apply on the website**,**Apply

website** gross per annum. This will be agreed on appointment. All new
appointments are subject to a probationary period of six months. The
job holder is responsible for complying with relevant tax and other
legal requirements in their country of residence.

The contract is based on a **Apply on the website** hour week, Monday
to Friday, based in the organisation?s headquarters in Dublin. The
Canada Program Officer may take **Apply on the website** days leave
per year in addition to public holidays in Ireland and three special
leave days which will be specified each year between **Apply on the
website** and **Apply on the website** December. The organisation
provides travel insurance, life insurance, a contribution to health
insurance, an income protection policy, and matches individual
contributions to a pension up to 5% of gross salary.
